Embracing the Wide Sky A Tour Across the Horizons of the Mind Daniel Tammet 9781416569695 Books

Daniel Tammet as an autistic savant has special insight into special minds. I found this book interesting and informative in relation to causes of abnormalities in brain functions. The author has personal life experiences in living with special mental states. He explained that the sections of the brain that should stay separately functioning in some people are working all at the same time. This causing cross communication between different regions of the brain, a convergence of normal thoughts, memories and feelings. Such hyper connectivity may help explain many forms of exceptional creativity. Daniel Tammet also discusses math and language basics of early childhood development.
I read his book, "Born on a Blue Day" first and found the explanation of how it feels to have a condition like his fascinating and wanted to read his second book. I have enjoyed both.

Embracing the Wide Sky A Tour Across the Horizons of the Mind Daniel Tammet 9781416569695 Books Reviews

This is an exceptionally interesting book, written by someone with a freakishly amazing brain for mathematical calculations.
On top of this it is, compared to many author's almost illiterate styles, extremely well written. I should add that it is also a work that one can browse in or delve into from time to time. I recommend that you check the various excerpts from reviews that you will find on the back cover.

Good reading!

Daniel's book, Embracing the Wide Sky, shared a lot of interesting information regarding the mind and it's possible limitless capacities. some of the information is quite intriguing, however Daniel had a tendency to go into too much detail in some of the chapters that the information became rather bland and gave the reader a lack of interest. where this book got too technical, Daniel's memoir excelled making it much more personable and intriguing. i would recommend the book for anyone who is interested in information about our minds from scholars interpretations in the past, to current data, and where the future may lead us.
Amazing book, if you like me love linguistic, math, science, brain scans, numbers and other things related with the studie and comprehension of the mind and the human brain, just bought this book, you dont regret
I really enjoyed "Born on a Blue Day" and was looking forward to Daniel's second book. I am not sure of what I was expecting, but page after page of psychology, and the never ending I.Q. testing debate kind of derailed me. On reflection, I suspect that Daniel has been swallowed up by this branch of science, and maybe without much of a choice. Maybe his next book will be less of a text. But that's just the romantic in me.
A gift for my daughter in law. She did'nt mail it back so I guess it was good enough to keep me out of trouble.
I became an instant Daniel Tammet fan upon reading his first book. His explanation of his own condition is valuable for anyone who has encountered someone with Asperger's or autism. Also, his charming and gentle writing makes him surprisingly easy to cheer for and identify with, across a gulf of "difference." His second book is more expository and less personal, as he explores several fascinating subjects of the brain. It's a book I will read more than once to aid in understanding this part of the universe. Fortunately, he also includes a bit about how he sees numbers and linguistics, which may make people a little more comfortable with the ability and limitations of autistic savants.
The leap from I was Born On A Blue Day (sometimes difficult to read, but a very important predecessor to this book), is astounding. Anyone who has an interest in the many possibilities of human consciousness should enjoy, and learn from, this book. I have bough extra copies to give away.
