Snow Angel Cove A smalltown romance Haven Point RaeAnne Thayne Books

The setting for this book sounded so promising, especially at Christmas time. I thought it would be a fun read, but I gave up about half way. It was so boring and repetitive and just not going anywhere. Eliza, the main female character kept saying she didn't know what to do, but she couldn't stay there, but obviously she did. Aiden, the main male character, kept saying he must have been crazy to buy the place. Ugh, get over it already. And the long, boring conversations between the 2 of them.....I just couldn't stand it anymore.

Snow Angel Cove A smalltown romance Haven Point RaeAnne Thayne Books Reviews

I enjoyed the story, found the characters well-developed and capable of holding my interest, but by the end of the book felt I had read other books with the same outline. The damsel in distress whose world has been turned upside down meets the man who she at first dislikes and mistrusts but eventually falls in love with. Add to that the fact that both the main characters, Eliza and Aiden doubt the fact that the other one could love them. I found myself urging them on, if only to get to the inevitable end.
If you’ve read the connecting series Hope’s Crossing then you’ve run into Aiden before, or are at least aware of who he is and his family. This multi-millionaire geek genius has recently purchased property In Haven Point mainly as a refuge for Snow Angel Cove is a lodge big enough to fit his entire family and beautiful enough to ease his mind when he needs beauty and solitude. He also, inadvertently, bought up half the property in this small town which makes him a rather absent landlord to some folks – and he’s not getting the warmest welcome from the people in town. Truth be told he made the purchase from a friend as a favor, and perhaps wasn’t in the best frame of mind when he did that favor… now he’s going to understand why Ben wanted to get rid of it so quickly.

Eliza and her daughter, Maddie, have arrived in Haven Point looking for a fresh start only to discover that the hotel Eliza was to manage has just hours earlier had an intense, almost totally devastating fire… and there is not only no room at the inn, but no job as well. To add insult to injury, Eliza watched in horror as a car hit a patch of ice and was sliding out of control toward her daughter in a crosswalk. She did what a mother does, ran and pushed Maddie out of harm’s way, only to be struck herself. She wasn’t badly hurt, but she does come face to face with a man she’d hated from a distance for a very long time… and he was the only way she could stay out of the hospital. Trusting Aiden was impossible, but for her daughter’s sake, Eliza would trust the devil …temporarily.

As the beginning of a new series, Snow Angel Cove hit all the right notes for me with enough backstory to make the tensions and attitudes in this small town believable, yet with enough hope for resolution to want to hang around to see how things turn out. As a Christmas romance, this one lit up the Christmas tree in lovely scenes, decorations, the madness of a large family, and the closeness of a precious child. Eliza and Aiden’s romance was a slow build, a slow burn. They each held secrets – important secrets that will get in the way of how they react to each other, and how their feelings become a bit complicated because of what they believe is truth. The animosity of most of the townsfolk toward Aiden is also a slow building wave as we slowly get to understand why.

I liked this couple, and it was an adventure to watch them overcome obstacles, win each other over and finally tell secrets that needed to be let out in the open for many reasons. It did take me a few chapters before I honestly warmed up to Eliza, her hatred for Aiden seemed so unreasonable without any explanation – just a hate on sight. It took me a bit to reconcile her attitude with what had happened to her through no fault of Aiden at all. I believe it will be enjoyable and exciting to see what Haven Point develops into with Aiden and Eliza as masterminds.

Looking for a good romance, an enjoyable Christmas romance or even a new series to dig your reading teeth into? Then Snow Angel Cove is a perfect combination of all of those. I had fun with this one and it left me wanting more… and that is what I look for in a series. Indulge yourself and enjoy.

I own a edition of this story.
I've read several books by RaeAnne Thayer and have thoroughly enjoyed each and every one, including this one.

This is the story of Eliza Haymaker, a widow with a child suffering from cardiomyopathy who has quit her job and is moving to a smaller town in Idaho after accepting a job as the manager of a small resort hotel. Unfortunately, just as she arrived, the hotel was burning to the ground, leaving her with no job, very little money and no place to live. To top it off, she is hit by an SUV as she is crossing the street, but manages to prevent her daughter Maddie from being hit.

The driver of the SUV is Adain Caine, the billionaire CEO and majority stock owner of Caine Tech. Mainly due to guilt over having hit her, but also because he needs help with the 20+ relatives that will be descending on his home over the Christmas holidays, he hires her to use her hotel management skills to make his home warm and welcoming to his family.

What follows is a beautifully crafted and heartwarming romance. The author has portrayed the strengths and weaknesses of the two main characters in intimate detail. She describes the town of Haven Point and surrounding area, as well as Adain's home, with vivid clarity. This is a clean romance, with no swear words other than an occasional "damn" and no sex, graphic or otherwise. I will definitely be reading more from this author!
