This was on sale and the reviews sounded good, so I got it. I read so much and so widely I think I can be excused for forgetting this author. I looked into my kindle library and there are two other books by her, unfinished. I can tolerate an uninteresting or pedestrian plot. I can't tolerate a book with no likable characters. This book had both. I really didn't like the Sharpe and Donovan characters, the immature Donovan brother, etc. I don't need to list them all. Hopefully, I won't succumb to any more sales.

I haven't read a book by Ms. Neggers I haven't liked and this one is no exception. Love all things Irish and this book gives insight to so much of that is Irish--land, people, food and traditions. The story line flows well as you cross the Atlantic from Donovan to Donovan. Enjoyed the interplay between the characters and the way it leaves you knowin there is more to come out of the mystery.
This was such a suspense filled book, and, of course, I liked that it had so many people (characters) I was familiar
with. Ms. Neggers describes the scenery so well that I find myself wanting to visit there...even Rock Point, Maine
(even though it's ficticious), and especially Ireland.

The only thing that disappointed me was that the art theft mystery was still a mystery at the end of the book.
Finally the art thief is revealed! There are a lot of descriptions of each character and location. Although these are needed - to a point - it gets a bit repetitious and tiresome. Otherwise, I enjoyed the book very much!
This is an excellent book as well as excellent series. You can't go wrong with these books. Each book is a complete and different story. Carla Neggers is an excellent author.
This Sharpe & Donovan was a daily special and is the first time I have read a book in the series. Perhaps the book would have been better if I had been familiar with the characters, but it didn't make me want to buy any of the additional books.
In book three of the series we are getting a better look at the main characters and more back story about their relatives.We are left wondering just enough to keep us interested about these folks and not enought to overwhelm us. I plan to continue with the series to satisfy my curiosity and hope to see more of the grandfather in future stories. He is quite the mystery himself!
This is just as exciting as the first two books and I'm ready for the next one. Patience is a virtue and I must wait virtuously, I suppose. Carla Neggers is a favorite of my reading group. She always has a lot happening in her books - romance, drama, rescue and some fun. The characters in each series seem to show up in the following books and that makes it feel like you are one of the group. We really enjoy Carla Neggers' books and recommend them to one and all who enjoy a good mystery with characters who are brave and keep the adventure in solving the mystery, or mysteries, going. Great book from a great series!
