A Sweet, Western Romance Novella.

His Prairie Princess (Prairie Brides, Book One) is the first in a new series about the town of Clear Creek, Oregon. One of the wackiest little towns in the old west! Enjoy this introduction to the townspeople of Clear Creek and come sit a spell!

Also Available! Her Prairie Knight (Prairie Brides, Book Two)
His Prairie Duchess (Prairie Brides, Book Three)

When Sadie Jones, the daughter of cattle baron Horatio Jones, set out on her own in search of her dying birth mother, she got more than she bargained for. She never dreamed the stage would be robbed and she herself taken along with the rest of the loot! After all, being kidnapped was the last thing on her mind that morning. Unfortunately it was the foremost thing that afternoon.

Harrison Cooke, raised by his English mother to be the perfect gentleman, simply went to get the mail, not rescue a damsel in distress! But here he was, attempting to rescue the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, and of course, not get them both killed in the process.

But both Harrison and Sadie have a goal. She's trying to rescue her mother. He's trying to save his brothers. That's a lot of rescuing going on. And in the midst of it all, can they rescue each other's hearts?

Positives: Exciting page-turning action. Hero rescues heroine and they live happily ever after. Book teaches we should love anyone... even the "dirty" town whore.

Negatives: Throughout the whole book, almost all the men are lusting and drooling after the heroine's body... even the hero, for a moment or two. The girl is nearly raped twice. ......I just don't get how this is supposed to add romance to the story. I certainly don't care to have 95% of the men I come across lusting after me.

His Prairie Princess Prairie Brides Book 1 edition by Kit Morgan Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

Sadie goes to find her mother who us sick without telling her father. The stagecoach gets robbed and she is kidnapped by the bandits. Harrison saves her and brings her back to town where she finds her mother. Her mother had been the town prostitute until she got sick. He and her mother were taken to the doctor's house to recuperate. She ended up being kidnapped again. It seems Harrison's stepmother were two of the order final kidnappers. I'm not going to tell you what happens, read the book, but I will tell you that Sadie's father finally arrives in town.
Everything about this novella was nice...the writing, the plot, the characters......nice, but nothing amazing. Furthermore, it could do with a bit of editing. There were several misspelt words, missing punctuations, etc. I'm not staying that this was anything too terrible, just there and noticeable.

Sadie is the daughter and only child of a wealthy, influential cattle baron. Her natural mother was a one night stand of her father's while he was engaged to another woman. Sadie went to live with her father and stepmother when she was a very young child. She does not know her mother, but knows who she is.

The book begins with Sadie as a captive of a gang of outlaws who had robbed the stagecoach of which she was a passenger. After receiving a letter informing her that her mother was gravely ill, Sadie had set off alone to go see her mother. It was while on the last leg of her travels that Sadie is kidnapped by the outlaws.

The hero, Harrison is a pig farmer (of all things) who followed the outlaws when he discovered that they had stolen the mailbag from the stagecoach during the robbery. There is some very important mail in that bag that Harrison desperately wants to get his hands on. No one realized that Sadie had been taken captive until Harrison saw her tied up in the gang's hideout. Harrison rescues Sadie and takes her back to town....the same town she'd been heading to when she was kidnapped. From there the the plot develops until, ultimately, Harrison and Sadie get their HEA.

This story is very sweet and quite romantic. You actually get to see the relationship between Sadie and Harrison develop. Harrison's family tree is a bit complicated. He is the youngest of three sons, his older brothers were in prison after being falsely accused of a crime (this too gets resolved by the end of the book), and Harrison is living with his stepfather and two stepbrothers (two useless good for nothing bums who also get theirs by the end of the book). They treat Harrison like crap and have him do all the work around the pig farm.

But don't get the wrong idea, Harrison is very much a man, one with manners that belong in a English ballroom. That's because Harrison is English.....very English. I couldn't quite reconcile the image of a cowboy with an English accent. I'm not complaining, but I prefer a good old red blooded American cowboy who says things like, darlin, howdy, and ma'am. BTW this book is a clean romance.
I recently did a binge read weekend with Ms. Morgan’s Mail Order Bride Ink series. I loved every moment spent with these characters and decided to go back to the very beginning. I met several of these characters when they were older and established in their marriages and in their towns… but now I’m seeing how they all started. If His Prairie Princess is any indication, I’m going to have a good time getting caught up on the love, the people and the shenanigan that captured my reading heart in the other series.

His Prairie Princess is a short story, an introduction of sorts to the rest of the Prairie Brides series. Sadie is headstrong, stubborn and in a great deal of trouble right now. She’d left home, unannounced, as to her true destination which is Clear Creak where she’s learned her birth mother is near death. Sadie is determined to find her and bring her home if at all possible. She didn’t count on robbers making off with not only the mail bag but with her as well. She could put up a good fight on her own – if she had a gun, and if she wasn’t tied up like a hog. Rescue is her only hope from the plans of these men… and that rescue is at hand, as well as her future should she be brave enough to grab hold of it.

Harrison had ridden out to get the mail – mail that would prove his brothers innocent and set them free from prison. He had a good idea of who was really behind the crimes they were charged with, but he needed proof. Hopefully, in that mailbag are the pardons that signal his brothers’ return home. Instead he discovers a robbery. His intent was only to go and grab back the mailbag. His brothers lives were at stake with what is in that mailbag… but he also discovers a young lady who he had no choice but to rescue as well. Harrison didn’t know it yet, but that young lady is his future – just as soon as he can get her away from those criminals.

I enjoyed my time in His Prairie Princess. Harrison and Sadie are a unique couple, both faced with some difficult decisions in the days ahead. Their romance is quick, but obvious to anyone with eyes. I liked them very much, got a taste of the town’s harpy, and saw the very beginnings of Clear Creek in this one street town with growth on its mind. I had a good time and I’m now off to pick up the next story in this series. If you enjoy Western Historical Romance, then you would probably enjoy the Prairie Brides series. It’s full of interesting characters, a taste of life on the prairie and a sweet, loving couple to enjoy.

I own an edition of this story.
